Each year, the Cape Atlantic Conservation District, in cooperation with New Jersey Association of Conservation Districts, sponsors an annual Poster. The contest is sponsored each year by the District to help promote a better understanding of the environmental issues in Atlantic and Cape May Counties.
The theme varies from year to year and is selected in coordination with the
National Association of Conservation Districts. The contests are an opportunity
for students to explore various natural resource conservation issues and are a
good way for teachers to meet New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards in
Science, Social Studies and Visual Arts.
The 2013 theme is "Where Does Your Water Shed". The water on earth is one of our most precious resources. There is a limited supply of fresh water, yet is must be balanced with our many needs for clean and plentiful water. Designing a poster and researching the theme can give you a voice in your community on important conservation issues. Good posters tell important stories to present and future generations. Posters capture people's attention with a powerful graphic and share an inspiring message with your community.
The poster contest is open to students in grades 2-12. All first place winners and second place winners are selected by the District, with the first place in each age category receiving a $100 gift card. First place winners will also have their work sent to Trenton for judging in the statewide competition. Each second place winner will receive a $50 gift card. The deadline for entry is March 8th.
