District Presentations and Workshops
Classroom presentations are available on a limited basis. Presentations can be tailored to any grade level, and can cover a wide array of topics such as wildlife habitats, soil ecosystems, soil and water conservation, soil types and textures, land resources and recycling, and pollution control.
The District also conducts presentations for adult and civic groups. Topics include backyard conservation, natural resource management, farmland preservation programs, and general information on soils of Atlantic and Cape May Counties. These presentations are also available on a limited basis.
Events such as the Atlantic County Utilities Authority's Earth Day Celebration, Cape May County's Earth Day Festival, the "Wings and Water" Festival, and the Kid's Fair provide an opportunity for the District to distribute information on its various programs and activities. For these events, the District will develop a visual display to help enhance its message.
Periodically, the District will hold workshops and seminars for engineers and other professionals on new soil erosion and sediment control technologies, or for updates of the Standards for Soil Erosion and Sediment Control in New Jersey.
A wide collection of printed material is available at the District Office. This material ranges from technical releases for professionals and guidelines for homeowners, to comic books for students and handbooks for teachers. The District also has several videos and slide programs that cover a range of environmentally related topics. These programs are available to schools, youth and church groups. To check the status of upcoming events or to schedule a presentation, please contact the District's Education Coordinator.
